Digital Health Literacy Policy Hub October Highlights

Dear friends,

October has been a month of extraordinary progress, global recognition, and community building for our Hub. From new academic partnerships to the growth of our seven Task Forces and bringing together an extraordinary international Scientific Advisory Board of renowned experts, we are working together to shape the future of digital health literacy, responsible AI, and equitable innovation.

Behind every great initiative is a dedicated team turning vision into reality. Our amazing core team, Anna Andersen, Project Manager based in Washington, D.C., and Monique Kozlakides, Community Manager in Lyon, France, are thriving in coordinating our global operations and outreach. Their dedication, creativity, and cross-continental collaboration keep the Hub thriving!

We are equally grateful to our many volunteers, interns, and ingrowing number of global ambassadors who help spread the word and grow our community every day.

🌍 Scientific Advisory Board & Task Forces – The Heart of the Hub

We proudly put together a powerhouse Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), a dynamic group of globally recognized experts from academia, policy, and international organizations. Their experience spans public health, genomics, AI ethics, digital governance, and global policy innovation. Our SAB members will be publicly announced through our website within November, marking a major step in consolidating the Hub’s governance and vision.

Alongside, we’ve built our seven interdisciplinary Task Forces (TFs) the operational backbone of the Hub. Each TF is led by an expert in their field who brings their experience, networks, and passion to the team. Members collaborate through our online platform, where they access the Hub’s reports, publications, resources and contribute to research proposals in genomics, AI, ethics, and health literacy.

Our TF Members will have the opportunity to join international conferences and dissemination events, co-author white papers, policy briefs, and research outputs with leading experts and participate in high-level dialogues at UN side events in Geneva and New York.

🧠 The Hub’s Scientific Milestones

The microtubules

We celebrate the continued scientific contributions of Professor Dimitri Nanopoulos, our Co-Founder, whose forthcoming paper “On the Potential of Microtubules for Scalable Quantum Computation” (to appear in The European Physical Journal Plus, Springer Nature), co-authored with Prof. Nick Mavromatos (King’s College London; NTUA) and Dr. Andreas Mershin (MIT; Realnose.ai), exemplifies the deep interdisciplinary inquiry that inspires our work at the Hub.

Their pioneering research bridges physics, neuroscience, and AI, opening new frontiers in our understanding of quantum cognition and human potential.

🎙 National Spotlight on AI and Health at ERT1

Journalist, Makis Provatas
Deputy Health Minister,
Dr. Marios Themistokleous & Dr. Joao Breda,

🤝 Strategic Collaboration with ACG

We are proud to announce a new strategic academic collaboration with the American College of Greece, aimed at strengthening research, teaching, and policy work in digital health literacy. The partnership will include joint research projects, pilot studies, and student engagement initiatives, fostering innovation at the intersection of health, data, and technology.

We are delighted to continue our collaboration for the BioMed-AI Summer School 2026, taking place in Antwerp, Belgium, from 3–6 August 2026. The event will be hosted by UZA (University Hospital Antwerp) as the local organizer, bringing together students, researchers, and professionals to explore the frontiers of biomedical innovation and AI.

🎓 Guest Lecture at Hofstra University, New York

Assistant Professor, Hafiz Asif

I was humbled to be invited by Professor Hafiz Asif to give a guest lecture at Hofstra University on “Digital Health Literacy as a Key Component of Responsible AI.”

The talk brought together professionals from nursing, pharma, healthcare, and cybersecurity, sparking rich discussion on how empowered patients and professionals are key to ensuring AI remains ethical, equitable, and human-centered. Such energy, insight, and enthusiasm made this a truly memorable event!

💫 Representation at OWIT Geneva

Our Hub was honored to be represented at the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) Geneva Gala 2025. We extend our warm thanks to OWIT for their kind invitation and recognition of our work at the intersection of technology, empowerment, and digital literacy.

At the Digital Health Literacy Policy Hub, we believe that true empowerment begins with access, access to knowledge, to digital tools, and to opportunities to participate meaningfully in the global digital economy. Promoting literacy in all its dimensions, from digital to health and data literacy, enables individuals, and especially women and youth, to take informed, confident, and equitable roles in shaping the future.

We are proud to stand alongside OWIT and the international community in advancing a shared vision: one where inclusion, innovation, and literacy become the foundation for sustainable growth and empowered societies.

✨ What’s Next

  • Launch of our revamped website featuring all 7 Task Forces leaders and members of our SAB.
  • Launch an open call for members participation across all TFs.
  • Exciting updates on our European branch in Athens and scholarship opportunities for young researchers!

Together, we are creating a vibrant global community of thinkers, innovators, and change-makers, united by curiosity, courage, and a shared mission to advance digital health literacy and the responsible use of AI. Let’s keep pushing boundaries, opening doors, and shaping the future.

Join us on this journey!

Warmly,

Olga
